Terrier Carving

This stylized sculpture of a Terrier dog, standing 21" tall, is carved from a black walnut log which had to be removed from a ranchers' fence. The cambium layer was so white that I decided to reduce the contrast with the black wood by staining the carving with cedar deck stain. The final sealant was with Spar varnish.
